Intel Looks Beyond Traditional Markets

Technology Companies need to think beyond the general realm of PCs, tablets, and smartphones to increase market share. Intel is looking into making chips that can used in wearable devices and emphasizing the innovation in software rather than hardware. President Renee James from Intel says that even though it is a semi-conductor maker, its goal is to also diversify its operations and provide solutions that include silicon and software/services which complements in semi-conductor business. In order to stay ahead of the innovation curve in technology, it aims to more in services and software in the area of security in the future. Intel is also planning to use its 11 billion dollars of piles in cash to acqure strategically in the next year. It wants to explore the popularity of Phablets in Asia. A phablet is the combination of a tablet and smartphone that is very popular in Asia. All in all, it seems that Intel is changing its direction in the technology landscape by shifting its focus on Asian markets and its software solutions.
